Infants
(6 weeks - 12 months)
We know how stressful and worrisome it can be to leave your baby for the first time.  Rest assured that here at JMC Early Learning Center they're in good hands.  We start enrolling babies as young as 6 weeks old.  We've created a scheduled environment in which all babies entering into the program are able to adjust quickly with a smooth transition.  We ask all new families to fill out a daily schedule in  which we minic here while we are becoming acquainted with your little one.  In this room the schedule has a more loose approach, with the goal of creating a schedule that is conductive to them to meet not only their physical needs but their development and social needs as well.

We strive to also provide an enriched environments in which your little one is also introduced to colors, shapes, sensory materials and positive peer interactions.  We leave plenty of time for floor play and exploration of new toys and materials.

The benefits of our infant care program include:

  • One-on-one interactions with staff members (including holding and cuddling)
  • Opportunities to exercise large and small muscles doing activities like rolling over, kicking, sitting, crawling, reaching, and grasping
  • Diapers are checked regularly and changed as needed

Pre-K & UPK
(4 years - 5 years)
Our Pre-K/UPK program is designed to prepare the pre-k aged child for kindergarten the following year.  We are also a UPK site for Highland Central School District.  Similar to our preschool program, we keep the children engaged in enriching activities throughout the day, while providing an opportunity for the child to interact, explore, socialize with their peers.  Our curriculum focuses on a weekly theme, letter, number, and shape.  Children are beginning to be introduced to reading through the foundations curriculum which is implemented in the school district as well.  The day is full and fun of many activities.  The children also have several opportunities for field trips in which we take learning off-site.

The benefits of our pre-K program include:
  • Literacy and language activities: We focus on building language skills through spoken words, written words, group stories, and some sign language.
  • Personal responsibility: Children learn to take care of their own physical needs and are encouraged to try new and challenging tasks.
  • Emotional learning: Lessons in feelings and emotions help children learn to express themselves in a healthy manner, including understanding and preventing violence.
